School meals

Meals are carefully prepared in the school kitchen by a dedicated team to ensure that pupils are offered nutritious and well-balanced lunches including vegetarian and cultural dietary choices.

Our school meals are provided by STIR Home – Stir Food

There are three lunchtime options:

  1. Children may go home for lunch. (They must return to school no more than 5 minutes before the afternoon session and must be on time for registration);
  2. Children may have a cooked school meal;
  3. Or children may bring in a packed lunch from home.

Ordering School Lunches

All school lunches must be ordered and paid for in advance.  Parents/carers will need to log on to parentpay.com and order their child’s meals, making a selection from the menu, up to two weeks in advance, or before 8am on the day of the lunch. To make selection easier, there is an image of the meal as well. If your child is absent from school, you can cancel any of your pre-ordered meals before 8am on the day.

By involving you in your child’s meal ordering process, it not only helps you ensure your child enjoys a variety of healthy foods but helps us to reduce food wastage too.

You will still be able to pay for your child’s meals at a PayPoint if you prefer to do so, but you must set up and use your online account to order the meals. This system will only allow you to order meals for your child if you have sufficient credit on their account, so please keep this in mind.

If you do not already have a ParentPay account, in order to set it up, you will need an activation letter. This will be provided to you by the school.

I have provided a step by step guide on how to order your child’s meals with this letter.

For further information on ParentPay please visit ParentPay.com. If you need any further assistance or have any questions, please contact the school office.

Packed Lunches

Packed lunches should be sent to school in a suitable named container. Drinks should be in an unbreakable named container. It is expected that packed lunches are nutritious and part of a balanced diet. It is preferred that children do not have sweets in their lunch boxes and there should be not products containing nuts in any part of their lunch. They may also bring in a piece of fruit for break time, however children in Foundation stage and KS1 will be given a piece each day. Please don’t bring food from fast food restaurants as staff will not be able to give that to your child. Children will be asked to keep unopened or unfinished food to return home.

Universal Free School Meals

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 they will be able to receive a school meal at no cost to the parent or guardian. Choosing a school meal will help you save on average £475 per year. Your child may still bring in a packed lunch from home if they prefer. Please note, a cash alternative is not available for those children not taking a school lunch.

Whether or not your child receives a free school meal, it is still really important that you still complete the form to register if they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2-this will mean the school receives extra funding for your child’s education.

Free School Meals

If your family receives certain benefits or is on low income you could be eligible for free school meals for your older child/children. It costs nothing to apply but could save you money and the school receives extra funding for your child’s education. To find out if you qualify and how to apply either:
